West Bengal College Admission 2025: Selection Process

1. Registration & Profile Setup
  • Register on the official portal wbcap.in starting 18 June 2025 (portal opened on 17 June at 2 PM) .

  • Create your profile with personal and academic details, and upload required documents such as Class 10/12 marksheets, photo, signature, caste certificate (if applicable), and ID proof.

2. Choice Filling (Course & College Preferences)
  • Select up to 25 preferences (courses + colleges).

  • New phased selection implemented in 2025: initially select 10 preferences, then choose remaining 15 via guided pop-ups, reducing impulsive or inaccurate choices.

3. Merit List & Seat Allotment – Phase 1
  • Candidates are ranked based on Class 12 marks (general merit and separate category merit lists are prepared) .

  • The first merit list and seat allotment results are typically published around 6–7 July 2025 (exact timing varies).

  • Allotted candidates must confirm provisional seats online and pay any admission or college fees between 6–12 July  Round (Phase 1 Upgrade)

  • Applicants may choose to upgrade their seat preferences if eligible.

  • Upgrade allotment list released around 17 July, with admissions from 17–20 July.

5. Document Verification – Phase 1
  • Physical verification of documents takes place at the allotted college (usually between 24–31 July).

6. Classes Begin
  • UG classes for the academic session 2025–26 commence around 1 August 2025.

7. Phase‑2 (Mop‑Up Round)
  • For candidates not allotted in Phase 1 or those ineligible/declined, a secondary, open Mop‑Up Round is conducted:

    • Applications accepted from 2–11 August

    • Merit list and allotments published by 14 August

    • Upgrade allotments from 21–24 August

    • Physical verification at institutions from 28 August–1 September
