CBT 2 is divided into 2 Parts:
  • Part A – Scoring

  • Part B – Qualifying (Relevant Trade)

CBT 2 – Part A (Scoring)

Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer.

CBT 2 – Part B (Trade-Specific)

  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • No. of Questions: 75

  • Qualifying Marks: 35% (no relaxation)

You have to choose your relevant trade while applying (e.g., Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic, etc.). The syllabus is based on NCVT/SCVT trade syllabus.

  • Welder

  • Instrument Mechanic

RRB ALP Syllabus, Stage 3: Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) – Only for ALP Post

  • Only candidates who have opted for ALP post and qualified in CBT 2 (Part A + Part B) will appear for CBAT.

  • No negative marking.

  • Includes tests like:

    • Memory Test

    • Perceptual Speed Test

    • Spatial Reasoning

    • Depth Perception

    • Concentration Test

Minimum Qualifying Marks in CBAT: 42 marks in each test battery.

Final merit for ALP will be based on 70% CBT 2 (Part A) + 30% CBAT.

1. What is the qualification required for RRB ALP?

Ans: Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) plus either:

  • ITI Certificate from NCVT/SCVT in relevant trade
    OR

  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering (for certain trades)

2. What is the age limit for RRB ALP?

Ans:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years

  • Maximum Age: 30 years
    (Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.)

3. Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP exam?

Ans: Yes. 1/3rd marks are deducted for each wrong answer in CBT 1 and CBT 2.

4. Is CBAT compulsory for all candidates?

Ans: No. CBAT (Computer Based Aptitude Test) is only for those who apply for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) post. It is not required for Technician posts.
